Hi Spider
Have bought the new box set and got to hear "Glued Up and Speeding" and "Hot Dogs With Everything" for the first time. Thought they were brilliant and reckoned they were the closest I would ever get to hearing what the Millwall Chainsaws might have sounded like in the late 70s considering nothing was ever committed to record. Philip thought that "Glued Up and Speeding" may have been and old Millwall Chainsaws number that you wrote, is this true? Loved your lead vocals and Shane's backing vocals "la la la la la" on "Hot Dogs With Everything."
Anyway I was thinking what with the Nips getting back together, how about a getting the Millwall Chainsaws back together and doing a double header! Cheers for taking the time to sign my book and say hello down in Brighton a few months ago, I reckon the Millwall Chainsawas gig would be slightly different in terms of musical output.
Reading the sleeve notes of the new box set you mention that "Broad Majestic Shannon" is right up there as a song that really shows all the qualities of a great Pogues track. Its funny I always thought it was good but not a stand out track but have given it a few listens again and know what you mean. "Rainy Night In Soho" is absolute top quality though probably my favourite track.
If push comes to shove what are your favourite other Pogues tracks......? I am sure you get bored with crap questions like this but hey its Friday,I am not at work and I am sat on my arse listening to some new Pogues tunes which is pretty damm cool.
Murder Ska is top as well.
Cheers
