Spider Guests on New Dropkick Murphys Album

Post Sun Jul 15, 2007 4:47 am

Spider AND Ronnie Drew both guest on Forthcoming album from DKM:

You may have heard the rumor by now and yes, it's true. We have finished
recording our new album and will be mastering it when we return from Europe
early next week ready to get it out to all of you. We will keep you updated with
any news, promotions and special offers around the album release over the coming
weeks.

"The Meanest Of Times" will be available from September 18th on DKM's own record
label, Born & Bred Records which will be distributed by Warner Music's
Independent Label Group.

"The Meanest Of Times" is a collection of tales about family, loyalty and
remembering where you came from. It contains what we hope are all the best
elements of the DKM sound: classic punk rock, Celtic folk and American
rock'n'roll. The album also features guest appearances by Spider Stacy of The
Pogues and Ronnie Drew of The Dubliners as a special treat.

We will post some songs from the album to give you a taste of what you are in
store for leading up to the album's release.

Also, we will be touring the US and Canada in August, September and November
around the release of the album so please join our mailing list or Myspace page
to keep up with all the latest news about tour dates and the album release.

In "Pics" section, I guess. You must have a Myspace account to be allowed to peep there.

Spider and Ronnies guest appearance on upcoming DKM album:

A BOSTON TAKE ON THE TRADITIONAL CLASSIC “LANNIGAN’S BALL” ***(F)lannigan's Ball : Dedicate to the memory of Mrs. Deirdre Drew. On July, 2cnd, 2007 we flew to Dublin to record the song (F)Lannigan's Ball with our good friend Spider Stacy from the Pogues and the legend himself, Mr. Ronnie Drew from the Dubliners. We just wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge Ronnie for being such a kind and humble man, that even in the face of his own serious medical issues and the recent death of his wife he was thoughtful enough to come down to the studio and spend the day teaching us a thing or two about how it's really done! Oh, and Spider your alright yourself

The above is from the Dropkick Murphys

This is the best track on the album. Dropkick Murphys tend to produce expectable and unexciting, yet never really horrible, output more often than I'd like, but this song is a real ripper. I agree, Spider sounds good. I really don't know what the deal with Dogfight ever was, but this dude should definitely front a no frills punk band. His voice is snotty enough for all of us!

Well thanks a lot. I've listened to Flanagan's Ball and now I have an earworm. Guess I'll just have to buy the album. :D

And I note they came to Vancouver. Missed 'em! Oh well, next time.
