It'll be choking with Cowbell. Like the Chisholm Trail with bells, only in a digital format.

Someone on here asked if Boz Boorer was as miserable as Morrissey. He is the polar opposite, probably why they work well together. And is he going to appear on my album? Hell, yeah!

As for it's contents , well, there's one about Mexico, Bound For Glory, which i started writing when i was there last March. I had just finished reading Johnny Green's book about the Clash and the image of Joe's daughter Lola wearing his Hudson motorcycle boots at the Clash's inaugeration into the R&R Hall of Fame stuck in my mind and somehow became woven into this song about peasant revolutionaries, human sacrifice, annihalation and redemption.

There's another one called the King Of Thieves which is all about the aforementioned and his harlot queen fucking each others brains out in a seedy hotel run by the devil.

Hurricane Deck is a kind of endless nightmare Ancient Mariner type thing...

There's all sorts of musical stuff going on though the primary influence will be, as ever, Norweigan Death Metal. And yes, i will probably play some whistle on it even though i don't really want to. Only kidding.

Sounds great 8)

Just a stupid question ... What about "Better than anything", "you bring me round" and so on .. Are those songs already recorded (and I miss something) or will they be on the album to come ?

I'm not sure what will happen with those songs. I have got a great version of You Bring Me Round that i did a couple of years ago with 40 guitars and Brass. (Jem and the Jesse James boys - who play Fiesta in London with us). And from the same session there was DogEatFace - I met this guy in Chicago who told me that his job was to go to crime scenes to try and stop the cops fucking with the evidence. Anyway, the gist of his story was that one night he had a call out to an apartment in the City where they found this guy who was off his face on PCP. Literally, I mean. Apparently he was tearing his face off and feeding it to his dog. Pretty much a victimless crime, i would say! Anyway, It's this big, lumbering metal monster that i am not quite sure what to do with. Perhaps i should offer it to Shane for 20th Century Paddy or maybe i should give it to the Popes for their difficult second album. No, no, i'll hang onto it incase this much anticipated pogues album ever materializes!

So, as you can see i'm not entirely sloth-like.

The sound that a six gun makes as the cylinder spins around.... I don't think that hand crank percussion instrument can make it properly..... but that sound would be good in there as well. And a good twangy reverberated guitar..... well I'm sure you aren't needing any help. :) Maybe I'll just put that one down myself. 8)

Yeah Eric, i love the gun idea and there's always room for twangy guitars, after all If It Ain't Got That Twang, It Ain't Worth A Thang...

There's another song i've got called Little Anthony & The Imperials. It's a kind of suicide note with weird floaty lap steel guitar. The guitarist on it said it scared the fuck out of him when he heard it back the first time!

Wow. That sounds like it could be a really good album. Any clues on instrumentation etc. I am assuming Norwegian Metal is a joke? Though, not quite sure after reading about the PCP song. I'm also interested to know who the musicians you are planning to use are. Any clues? Also, are these all recorded or just ideas? I have heard your demo version of You Bring Me Round, it is an immense song, I can't begin to imagine the 40 guitar and Brass version! Sorry to land you with so many questions but this is a big deal to me! Thanks for everything Spider, I have really enjoyed your postings. As the great Joe Strummer said, "Spider Stacy? he's the true spirit of the Pogues!" See you in NY, and hopefully Boston too.

Thanks Guest! The Nowegian Metal bit WAS a joke, though DogEatFace has been likened to a tank going over a cattle grid...Most of the songs I have mentioned have been recorded but I want to do almost everything again. Who is going to play on it and where we are doing it i'm keeping under my hat for the moment because i don't want to tempt fate. god bless Joe Strummer.

Indeed! 8) And since you brought him up, I've been giving Hell's Ditch a lot of play lately and can't help but think Joe must have had a hell of a tough time keeping you guys on the same page. And some might want to shoot me for saying this, but here goes... it sounds to me like it could have spend more time in mixing and production (don't get me wrong, there is some brilliant stuff there, and I now love the album). My theory is that Joe was so relieved to be done with the recording studio drama, and some of the Pogues, or maybe the record company, just wanted it to be released so things could move on. Am I anywhere close to the truth here, or am I full of it? :)

No, you are nowhere close to the truth. I guess people hear things differently.
