Try to find a way for yourself which makes it easy to play and listen to music a lot so you will develop an ear for music.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But sometimes you need some help just to get started.

I've been 'playing' the thin whistle for a few weeks now and it's great fun.

Simon I play the whistle, I learnt through Brendan Mulker I Believe he is still teaching in Hammersmith. It's well worth it, you learn all the Irish Trad stuff - Brian Kelly know's him well also. Brian learnt off of him I believe and is now the all - ireland banjo player - diddle dee dum.

Best thing about Brendan - was all the sheet music he gave you to practice on. :)

Miss Walshy,

I believe your man Brendan Mulker still teaches in Hammersmith. I went a couple of years ago with my banjo. The standard was excellent although, as I play by ear, I found the sheet music intimidating. I packed it in after a few weeks! He has, I'm told, taught anybody who's anybody in the trad scene in London and beyond.
