if you have been to spiders website then you must know his band is called the vendettas. as far as i know he was calling his band wisemen for about 5 or 6 dates. i do agree the website is never updated though! however last time i was there there were some good pogues reunion pictures.

Wisemen, Vendettas, Spider Stacey's Pogue Mahone, I've heard all these names, and to be honest, it doesn't really matter what the hell they call the band. Especially when nothing is updated, or released for WELL over a year.

Good point, when nothing at all is released, it doesn't matter what the hell the name is.

there's been bits and pieces about him on paddy rolling stone. a few months ago someone said he was recording but yeah, it's a bit quiet...maybe someone should give him a kick up his lazy ass! i saw him supporting shane in 1999 and the band were pretty good. actually, when they played pogues tunes they blew the popes away! maybe shane should use spider band! and keep spider!

There exist a 4 track demo cd with the Wisemen and a 10 track demo cd with The Vendettas. Both are great and worth listening to.

spider & the vendettas

Post Sun Mar 07, 2004 2:03 pm

i managed to pick up a cd with a lot of unreleased demos by spider on it. outstanding songs were 'better than anything' and 'you bring me round' which although very very different to the pogues is fantastic. i dont understand why he doesnt get this stuff released or if he can't be bothered why doesnt he just put it up on his website for us to download?

i have only got into the pogues quite recently mainly due to my age (17). i have never seen them, just shane & the popes in croydon, which was a bit disappointing really. does anyone know if spider plays live in the uk? and if he does, does he do any pogues stuff? or am i going to have to wait for this elusive reunion?

I stopped using the Wisemen name in 1999. I was never happy with it. Actually it bugs me everytime i come on this site and see it under my name. Anyway, I've got a couple of albums on the go and have had a few offers to put 'em out but i think i can do better. I also have a bunch of new stuff that i should record at some point. i am very, very lazy...
