What might have been a better idea was if he had asked them to wait until we played the west coast. As you can probably imagine all of us had better things to do than pay for ourselves to fly to California to be on a tv show. To be fair James & me mulled it over for about 5 minutes but decided it would be crap without the others...and we were right!
For the record, I underwent a similarly short night of the soul on the matter. People should try to avoid being on TV unless they can figure out no way of avoiding the chore. A phone call at 4pm the day before a dimly mooted TV show in CA in which the entire conversation goes like this is not conducive to changes of plans, for example.
MAN A: (summoning up the remains of what may once have seemed like a good idea at the time, before it fatally began to lack nourishment and, therefore, momementum): So, that's a NO from you on Rollins too then, is it?
MAN B: (summoning up all dimly mooted elements and placing them neatly into a hotel wastepaper basket of the mind, while checking once again the airline itinerary for tomorrow's departure time for luscious, lovely San Antonio): Yes, that's a NO.
