Hi,

Just wondering, how are the Popes without Shane? Do they still make good music on their own? Do they still make Irish-rock music?

Their solo album 'Holloway Boulevard' is excellent. Live, they've gone downhill since loosing whistle, fiddle and squeezebox over the last few years.

And is it still Irish-influenced rock'n roll?

The new guy named Brian Kellys and his addition to the band is not to be overlook- he's bloody amazing with the mandolin and banjo.
I actually like their new sound.. they never had this many stringed instruments in the band.

And yeah.. I think they should do more solo stuff and return Shane to his rightfull owners: the Pogues ;) tss

honstley i think mad-dog is a bit full of himself but good musican, he would be good in a punk band, not shane macgowan's backing band,

as for brian kelly, excellent on banjo, he's released a solo album as well.

Excellent cd that Hoilloway Boulevard .they brought out a live cd last year which i was a bit reluctant to buy thinking there would be no fiddle or accordian( and it comes as adouble with Holloway Boulevard again).
Luckily they still had the midssing instruments on it.
Everytime i have seen them live recently though they have been the basic guitar and banjo bass and drumss unfortunately.Still good though from what i can remember :)
