Went to see sharon shannon with dessie joyce shane and the big band last night. Shane turned up late so the band had to play for an extra hour but they didnt seem to mind so all was good. Ive seen shane bout 30-35 times now mostly popes. Ive seen him in some conditioins clonmel being a stand out gig but that was just a bad patch where he was making headlines and people were going to see him just to see what kind of state he'd be in. ANYWAY last night was the worst I've seen him unfortunately. He came on ( being held up by three people) to the tune of the irish rover but as soon as he got the mic he was on his back. They helped him up and he was on his face. They got him a seat and he managed to fall off that. What amazes me is that he will never miss a word.It was still a fantastic gig but going on last night (and i know people have been saying this for the last 25 years) I think that this years christmas tour could be the pogues last............so don't miss it!!!!

i was at the dolans concert on the dock road last may and shane was pretty sozzled at that as well. he missed a lot of lines and really didnt seem too bothered about the gig. however i have seen him numerous times with the pogues and only once with the popes. With the pogues he has rarely put a foot wrong and his performances have never disappointed. i think that the gigs with sharon are just a cameo and he is not taking them seriously, as he only comes on to sing the same few songs and he doesnt find this challenging enough. in hurling terms its like league and championship, he will always perform come championship and wont dissappoint on the christmas tour!

Certainly not nonsense. Ive seen him with sharon once before in portlaoise NYE and he was in great form (courtin in the kitchen clip on youtube). I'll agree with ya bout how serious he takes the sharon gigs compared to the pogues gigs. He was even in great form in oxegen during the summer. I've seen the pogues bout 6 or 7 times. I'm just sayin that Ive never seen a person in as bad a condition. I'll enjoy listening to him at the gig but for the average onlooker it was just to be laughed at. Not nice to see yer hero like that...........

Do not forget that so called "heros" are nothing but human beings in fact.
You label them heros first, heap your big expectations on their shoulders and then blame if they stumble under the weight.

It was charity, wasnt it? Console yourself you spent your time and money on good thing, not on hero's bad habit.

He didnt appear to be that bad of a state a few nights earlier in Dublin. Not sure what the hand signals are all about like.

Thats much more like it Mark. Great clip. Never even heard of him appearing with Rep of Loose. Would have loving to be at one of the Babyshambles gigs.

Shane's always had his off nights. That's what makes him Shane. Keep the faith!
