For those of you who don't know The Sun, have a read of
this page from Liverpool Football club about boycotting the paper.
The boycott of The Sun goes back to April 1989. At the time of writing that is almost 17 years ago. On April 15th 1989 a disaster took place which resulted in the deaths of ninety-six Liverpool supporters at Hillsborough, the home ground of Sheffield Wednesday, during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. Ninety-six people had their lives crushed out of them.
The headlines and sub-headlines on the front page of The Sun newspaper on the Wednesday following the disaster were as follows:
“The Truth.
Some fans picked pockets of victims
Some fans urinated on the brave cops
Some fans beat up PC giving kiss of life.”

This is from the IRISH Daily Mirror on Monday
Boozy rocker Shane MacGowan said he would rather die than give up the drink for six months.
The toothless singer, who has recently been diagnosed with Hepatitus, was warned by doctors he risks death unless
he stays dry for at least six months.
But he went back on the bottle within three weeks claiming life was not worth living without the drink.
Shane, 50, said " I was told by doctors I have Hepatitus and I would have to stop drinking for six months"
"I did it for three weeks and I said, fuck it. I'd rather be dead"
The article went on to talk about his gig in Dungloe with Sharon Shannon and the piss up that follwed. The article finished with the following.
It was recently recealed the Fiarytale of New York singer has taken up Japanese martial arts as a hobby.
He said " I am into Japanese martial Arts. It's like stick fighting.. I was told when I was 11 years of age I was a waste of time at hurling and it hurt so thats why I started this"
It is believed that MacGowan is working on new songs and is set to team up with Mundy for a number of recordings.

Quote from Ingrid on Friends Of Shane
"I don't believe that article. It's The Sun, you know. I spent a lot of time with Shane last week and he was very well."
