Shane MacGowan OBE - who wants to nominate him?

Post Mon Jan 24, 2005 9:41 am

hi!
I recently had a gander at the Queens New Years honours list, and I found that loads of nobodys (even milkmen!) were being honoured by the queen. and I personally think that Shane deserves an honour more than any musicians around at the moment!
So I've looked into it, and found out that people can nominate someone for an honour from the queen, and I was wondering if any one else would join me in Nominating Shane for an Honour? below is the link to go to for an application form, so I think we should all try and get him honoured with an OBE!

Just so he has the pleasure of turning it down?

There is always Birmingham Six to consider.

I predict if Shane was nominated he could do otherwise - just miss the ceremony like nothing happened and then when asked about it say, "I don't give a fuck about your OBE, better tell your queen to fuck out of Northern Ireland". I can easily see him doing just that...

Anyway, if you're into honours (spurious or not), why just an OBE? How about Lord MacGowan of the County Hell? Sounds good to me.

Well, there is a place in Norway called Hell, maybe they could be persuaded to give Shane a title ;) Lade should live just around the corner of Hell, so he could dab over and check it out *gg*

I drive through Hell each day on my way to work. It's about 3 km's away.

 I suppose driving through Hell on the way to work is better than working in Hell... I'm sure I've done that a few times.

[No offence, of course, to the people of Hell, Norway. I'm sure it's a lovely town. ]

Well, if hell's frozen over he might get around to accepting the honour!
