"Pete Doherty is donning his flat cap to perform the Mary Poppins tune Chim Chiminey at the South Bank Centre as part of a starry tribute to the Disney Songbook.
Doherty, the scruffy urchin with the million pound record contract and supermodel girlfriend, will join drinking pal Shane Macgowan and Meltdown festival curator Jarvis Cocker to pay tribute to classic Disney songs as part of the South Bank's annual music jamboree.
Nick Cave, Baaba Maal, Ralph Steadman and Bryan Ferry will also perform. "
Forest Of No Return - Hal Willner presents the Vintage Disney Songbook. Royal Festival Hall, 0871 663 2500, Sunday 17 June, 7.30pm.
You may chance it...

So what Disney song would Shane cover? I'd love to hear him do The Bare Necessities from the
Jungle Book.
Second choice being probably Let's Get Down To Business from
Mulan. If only because it might chase Jackie Chan's version out of me head.

If all the Pogues had agreed to take part, they could have gone for Snow White and Seven Dwarves. (Drawing straws who would be the Snow White, to make it fair.) Being it just Shane and Pete, they could try Beauty and the Beast. Shane being the Beauty and then quickly putting the mermaid tail on...

And giving Spider a suitably starring role in "Whistle While You Work"...

Even Shane would rather see Iggy and The Stooges rather than himself, if he turns up, singing one number. If that makes sense. Anyway I'll be there to see him so its irrelevant, you coming?
some tickets still available

London Pogues fans this is your chance to see Shane in the newly re-opened Festival Hall and with a week to go the place is half-empty. Pisspoor.

You could head to Glastonbury for Iggy.
Yeah I'm there.
