Ulick McGhee? Surely a joke?

I can't say that Seamus Murphy rings a bell either.

You may well be right as I have to admit the last 3 names on the list , (Seamus Murphy ,Ulick McGhee, Leeson O"Keeffe ) above I got from wikipedia/answers.Not always the most reliable source. I do know Leeson O"Keeffe played with the Popes but had forgotten his name until I went looking for Brian Kelly my space page .
Iam sure there are other names on there that some perceive are not really a "Pope" but just guested either on stage or in the studio.
There also could be someone I have missed out that is perceived a first choice Pope . My point with the list is that "The Popes" have a varied line ups but have still continued to play some great music when certain members have dropped out.some members have gone onto great things with other bands . I wish them all luck. I would be as likely to buy Necks,BCS,Brian Kelly cds as I would a new Popes cd in the hope to hear so good music.
Good luck to them all

But he was never a Pope as it was always Shane Macgowan And The Popes.
The Popes being just his backing band and not a band he was in . Bit like Elvis Costello and The Attractions , Ian Dury And The Blockheads, steve Earle And The Dukes, Big Tom And The Mainliners.

Where as Shane was a Pogue as he was & still is in a band of that name.

The fact that I forgot that Leeson O"Keeffe was a Pope could arise from the fact that when I hear his name now I think of Neck.
Bit like when I hear of Shane MacGowan I at first think of The Pogues and not The Nips.

looks like you are doing a good job on becoming a hanger on. you are best mates with the band now, know them by their first names and everything.
