Colm is into acting now.

I think his brother Liam was in Hothouse Flowers & has just gone solo. While his band mate is in Preup with Cait

The Popes site has now got full versions of 2 of the demos on the sounds page.
you can uploaded two full versions of 'RAW' and 'Boy Don't Cry'.
The other 2 tracks are still 1 min long demos .
These tracks will be on the soon to be released brand new album.

I ve just spoken to Den, Bob Dowlings brother and he says that ; Bob, Andy, Brian and Denis himself are busy on new material and are going under the name of the Electric Popes.

The reason its the Electric Popes is they dont want to lose the Popes identity and their side of the Popes legacy.

It would of happened much earlier only for the sad passing of Tommy who was at the time writing songs with Bob for the new band, and as you can understand everything was put on hold to decide either to carry on or not but the reponse from people has been fantastic and the decision to carry on ended up to be quiet easy.

Even though the lads are busy its going to take a while to get everything right eg, new material, gigs, web site etc because they do want it to be spot on when it arrives.

With refference to Mad Dog and the Popes they wish him the best of luck in his continuation of the Popes.

So instead of having one band we now have two bands carrying on the Popes tradition.

For historical accuracy's sake, they really should be calling themselves the Avignon Popes, but it's cool that they're still keeping their tradition going.

Two lots of the Popes! We're being spoilt. Though it just brought to mind that episode of Father Ted with three Elvises...

I know which lot I prefer. The truth of the matter is that Bob et al got fed up of Paul and stopped returning his calls.

I don't think we'll be seeing Shane with either any time soon. The occaisional tour with The Pogues suits him down to the ground and, to be fair, is probably 10 times more lucrative.

Interesting to read about the ex-Popes. All Danny seems to do these days is hog the Paddy Rollin' Stone messageboard and use it as an outlet for his preposterous ego.

Yes, I've noticed that. He's a tool.
