They're called wig mikes or contact mikes. I can think of about 20 things that could go wrong there before we're halfway through the show. Don't even MENTION it if he's within earshot!

Mic swinging is rock and roll, Id like to see Philip put his guitar through the bass drum at the end of the show and Spider do a 'Paul Simonen' with his whistle and break it in half on the stage floor.

hey, now ya remoinded me.. theres one scene in Loive At Montreux 1995. Shaneo woith The Popes, at the end of Oirish Rover.. Shane starts crashing the moicrophone against the floor

Now that one should become collector's oitem :lol:

Besoides it seems it was a very quality one!!! (after number of koicks and Shaneo's great efforts, it wouldn't break lol )

What's the deal with the whipping and beating of the mic? I didn't notice it in D.C. last year, but I've read from many that this was common at other shows. I'm with the others -- other than the priceless 19th century stringed instruments with Terry, and I think the accordion player gets a pass for his usual highly kinetic action, and the obviously unsatisfying snapping of a whistle, there could be more destruction on stage, and other than the microphone lashing.... which the more I think about it sounds more and more silly as I think about it. I'm thinking during Fiesta you might have some pyro and smash some stuff. :lol:

But Silly String is also an option.

We did silly string on Fiesta in the late 80s. I'm still removing bits of it from my clothes.

I'd bet money that silly string will be prohibited by security. Some bullshit like "as the moisture rapidly evaporates there's a fire risk. You could kill everyone in the venue. None silly string. It wouldn't be very silly after you PUT OUT AN EYE!"

Yes, daughter has seen footage of same. Has silly sting. Wants to bring to show. Cannot go to shows, except Flogging Molly. Will be trying it out at outdoor Flogging Molly show on March 10th. They have no vintage equipment any more I hear. :shock:
