Nick Cave "Death is not the End"

Just listened to it for the first time and was blown away to discover Shane singing

"When you're standing on the crossroads that you cannot comprehend, just remember death is not the end"

I think it's one of the most beautiful lines I've ever heard him sing.

The song itself was a brilliant choice as the closing number of an album of ditties about murders and slaughters.

Thanks for this, Funkfuzzi...
Have long loved the song, but somehow I hadn't seen this live version.
Shame they couldn't get PJ on there too, but great stuff. 8)

Who's the guy on Shane's left?

The guy on Shane's left is Blixa Bargeld. He used to be a guitarist for many years in Nick Cave's Bad Seeds. He has since left and is doing other stuff of his own. For more information check the link I am posting for you below.

Thanks! I always wondered about that. Many years ago, I saw a short film starring Michael Imperioli (of the Sopranos) that was called, "Blixa Bargeld Stole My Cowboy Boots." It was very good, although I had no idea who this Blixa fellow was. Thanks again.

I once wrote a poem called "Billy Corgan Stole My Wig".

Unrelated but true.

Do you still have it?

Yes.

It's a silly four-liner thing. It won't be in "The Best Of Nboldock" should it ever be published.

Oh go on then...

Billy Corgan Stole My Wig

It was a quiet Sunday morning when Billy Corgan stole my wig
He tried it on and pranced around, thinking he looked big
And then he turned and ran away, my hairpiece on his head
When I get hold of Billy Corgan, the guy is fucking dead.

Trust me some of the others are actually worth reading. Perhaps not that one.

blixa bargeld's former band EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN (crashing new buildings) was very crazy...they used chainsaws, hammers, bricks and blixa screamed and yelled all the time...

Yes and Nick Cave was a massive fan of course, hence...

There's plenty about both bands in the rather brilliant Nick Cave biography "Bad Seed" which I lent to an ex-girlfriend many moons ago and sadly never got back.

I recommend it. For those of you who think Shane Mac is lucky to be alive, read THIS book... jeez... that Mr Cave is one charmed guy!!
