I am very sorry to have to forward this sad announcement from the Boogaloo mailing list:

Hello,

We are saddened to announce the death of one of our dearest friends ....
Tom Mc Manamon...the Animal or the Beast...
or whatever fans called him...he was one of the most talented musicians in the World..and fittingly died with his banjo in his hands...he was in Shanes band...played with Storm.The Pogues...The Popes...Depech Mode...Joe Strummer...U2...Sinead and many many others....he was resident at the legendary Filthy Mac Nastys from the first day till the last....it would not have happened without him...the gang was all here and we were not supposed to part..We owe him deeply and will never forget him....

We will post his funeral arrangments on our website when details are announced....

Thanks for all the wonderfull memories...

I was celebrating tonight, but it's hard to explain.. I got a text.. and felt deflated. I never met Tom but I respected him. He was in my top 10 Musicians.

I've thought about him all night. May he rest in peace with lots of love.

Still a bit numb from hearing this via a mate a few hours ago and crying my eyes out. Poor Tommy...I would have gone to see him playing a session last Thursday but got a gig in myself for that night. I feel awful for not going. The word genius is bandied about far too much for my liking but Tommy truly was a genius, as well as being extremely sensitive and just a bloody lovely bloke in every way. I'm heartbroken.
