I know exactly where the Southpaw is. Unfortunately, I can't go to NYC until Saturday.

Oh well. Better luck next time.

I think braving the subway is the only option because you can already write off getting a cab on one of the drunkest nights of the year. And even if you did flag a cab, I'm not sure if they'd be willing to take you to Brooklyn.
It's true. Taxi cabs are extremely hard to come by on St. Paddy's Day. Besides, the Arab taxi drivers won't go over to Brooklyn for some reason. Take the subway or ask Shane for a lift. Maybe Spider Stacy & Phil Chevron will be going. You can hitch a ride with them (for a fee). I may just drive there if I get the desire, so I'll let you know then. I'm about 5 miles from there.

Surely you and Shane can give us a lift from the Nokia!
I asked for a lift first!

If you're in any shape to drive from the city to Brooklyn after the Pogues show, then you haven't spent your St Patty's Day appropriately.

Come to think of it, I won't be in any shape to drive around Manhatten and Brooklyn. Just hop a subway.

This is what Shane's doing after The Pogues gig in New York on St Patrick's Night! Over the past three years and never missing a gig, in Ireland Shane has DJed at Death Disco parties in Dublin and Belfast ten times - and with his eclectic taste in music and his bandleader's eye on the surging crowd, he's an AMAZING DJ, driving the audience WILD! And a truly lovely man, too. We love you, Shane. This - Death Disco New York's 2nd Birthday Party - will be the American debut of DJ Shane MacGowan!!! Brilliant.

My friend and I will be traveling to Brooklyn after the Pogues show. We are both from small town Michigan, so traveling to Brooklyn via subway at night is going to be a pretty big ordeal for us.
We should find a way to all meet up after the show and travel in a pogues pack. I have no idea how to get to Brooklyn from Times Square via subway.
So any help will be appreciated.
I'm willing to pay for a cab ride, but it sounds as if this option will be nearly impossible.

I'd love to go this, but I'm a bit broke and the possibility of Shane maybe being a bit too celebratory to show up makes me a bit hesitant to fork over the money. Although after the show I can see my friends and I deciding "F it" and trying to get in.
The subway is safe, I'd say it'd just be more of a headache because it tends to take a bit longer at night in those parts. More the going home part than getting there. If you went with enough people though a cab probably would be cheap (although it'll be absolutely mad in Times Square around then, and cabbies generally don't like going out to Brooklyn since its hard to catch a fare back).
Here's the NYC subway map:
http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm
And if you visit
http://www.hopstop.com, you can plug in the addresses and it'll give you a good list of walking/subway directions to get there.

I'll be there for sure. I'm from Toronto and though I've been to NY, I've never been outside of Manhattan/Harlem. I'm going to the Friday night gig, and basically just hoping to hook up with some people at the show who I'll be able to travel with to the Southpaw.
It still seems a bit dodgy as I have this horrible feeling I'll be stranded in Brooklyn alone, pissed drunk in the middle of the night.....I'm just kind of counting on fellow pogues fans to point me in the right direction
