Oi think the question is not exactly roight...tis not good to compare Pogues and Popes...Pogues are by far better BUT comparing The Pogues vs. Shane and The Popes from me point of view...Shane with Popes has done amazing work and Snake and Crock of gold especially are match or even better than many stuff that Pogues did(when Shane was in Pogues).
BUT,Shane is part of both stories...with Pogues or with Popes...hes done master pieces! 8)

I was listening to crock of gold today and have to sat there are several classics on it, i love the b+i ferry mighty mighty jar track, cant see how if you love the Pogues you can slag Shanes solo work meself

Its useless arguing one way or another on this-both bands contain talented musicians in their own right welded to the brilliant songwriting and charisma of Shane.Post Shane Pogues don't work for me but its obvious there are many on this board who love those two albums and good luck to ya!
