According to BP Fallon's site:

HOWLING FOR MY BABY
ALLEN GINSBERG’S 50th HOWL

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first public reading of Allen Ginsberg’s extraordinary poem Howl, a motley crew of poets, artists and angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection mark the occasion by gathering together to read from Ginsberg’s work in aid of charity.

Taking part in the Dublin festivities and reading from Ginsberg’s cannon are poets Theo Dorgan, Gabriel Rosenstock, Paula Meehan and Tony Curtis, comedian Tommy Tiernan, Labour Party politician Fergus Finlay, writer and social activist Eamon McCann, editor of Hot Press Niall Stokes, songwriter Hazel O’Connor, broadcaster and writer Eamon Dunphy and from the soul of Ireland Shane MacGowan. And BP Fallon will read Ginsberg’s Father Death Blues.

The Howl event is in aid of the Dublin branch of Down Syndrome Ireland to raise funds for speech therapy for children with Down Syndrome.

Well, maybe I'll lift the veil (just a corner of it) and tell you secretly where Shane was yesterday (but it's between us, ok?)
so:
A host of stars including Golden Globe-nominated Murphy, director Jordan, Brendan Gleeson and Stephen Rea strolled down the red carpet at Dublin`s Savoy Theatre.

U2 singer Bono and his wife Ali, actor Ralph Fiennes and Pogues singer Shane McGowan made surprise appearances at the event which raised £70,000 (€100,000) for Unicef.

You see, the man was busy doing good deeds...
