Shane Announces New Music

Post Fri May 21, 2021 11:28 am

Haven't seen this on the forum yet, it looks like Shane will be releasing some new music this year after two decades...

Personally, looking forward to hearing this from the poet that is Shane Macgowan!

Hi Kids, here's Shane. I've got all sorts of ailments at the moment, yeah. That in old peoples diseases. But there's an album on the way, don't worry. I'll be back.

is that possible?
When the world is too dark
And I need the light inside of me
I'll go into a bar and drink
Fifteen pints of beer.

There was the "20th Century Paddy" album, there was sessions with a band that included the rhythm section from In Tua Nua (they did a couple live gigs to warm up, Mick Jones passed as producer), there was some recording with Cronin... nothing has ever seen the light of day from any of these. Don't like to be Negative Nancy Whiskey here, but I'll believe it when I hear it.

I remember I read an interview last year where Cronin told that they had already practically finished the recordings of a couple of new Shane's songs... I personally would like to hear at least one single release of them as soon as possible. Or maybe they have decided that they won't release anything before the whole album is ready... Or something.

Which suggests that was fall of 2019, so coming up two years ago. Which suggests there's a reason we ain't heard it. But hey, prove me wrong, Shane!

We've been here before,

every rumour gets some people excited, but nothing new has come out in years and the live appearances that have occurred have been... not encouraging.

Mmm?

MacGowan plans to release a new album in the fall, which will feature, among others, his close friend Johnny Depp.

So, why the fuck they don't release anything? :D :? I understand that the pruducing process takes time, but this is something else... If the songs are ready, they are ready.

Of course they'll do what they want and in their of schedule, but there has been a lot of teasing already over the years. Let us hear something!

” In unusually expansive mood, MacGowan also reveals his pleasure at finally nearing the completion of an album made with the Irish band Cronin.
...
A slow return to music-making with Cronin, a family band from Mullingar, has restored his interest in life. The drawings, Clarke suggests, are further evidence of his constant need to express himself artistically: “It goes together. When you let creativity come out, it is an unstoppable force.

He may have drawn compulsively once but it is music that hounds him now, with tunes forming constantly in his head: “I am always writing songs. It is far more effort to draw. I am in the later stages now of recording the album with a new band and we have amazing chemistry.”
