You know, through all her troubles, she has never lost her ability to perform, and she's always given it her all, so I'm not surprised her version of "You're the One" was glorious. But you're right: it's so lovely to see her smile.

Hadn't heard she'd changed her name to Magda Davitt....

Well, back home in Tipperary and what a night. There's tons of videos up YouTube thankfully because mine are shite. We had front row seats and had a quick hello with Terry Woods at the end. He gave me his set list so here's the running order.... By the way Magda Davitt is The Artist Formally Known As Sinead O'Connor. She sang magnificently and got the biggest cheer of any of the guest artists. Rainy Night In Soho was murdered by Bono. His vocal gymnastics were ridiculous. Glen Hansard, Damo Dempsey, Camille O'Sullivan where my highlights.

Thanks for posting that setlist! I wish/hope this broadcasts somewhere and gets bootlegged for us all.

I read that that 3-song opening set was performed by Spider/Glen Matlock/Clem Burke (Blondie) and Jesse Malin. That set and the women (Camile, Cait, Magda/Sinead, Lisa O'neill - with Terry!) seem like the highlights, although there are a few names on there i don't know.

Who was the in houseband? Saw Jem/Cait/Spider/Terry, Sharon Shannon, and was that Whiskey Mick (The Popes) playing 2nd fiddle to John Sheahan? Oh yes, and Johnny Depp was hard to miss in his standard outfit.

Nice to see Shane, er, better than he was at the Electric Picnic last summer. The teeth definitely help.

The single-name was too long, he's gone down to just the one letter now?

Best review i've read so far, Steve. Thank you.

I've taken the liberty of posting a link to your article which previewed the gig.

Yep his wig is awful. Almost as bad as his hideous vocal. He should have stayed back in his Martello tower.

I have two tickets spare for the birthday concert. The reason being that I had to buy four in order to get one for myself and another. I bought them from someone who was clearly selling to make a profit and for that reason they are not cheap - 300 Euros each. I am not a tout and I am making no money on this myself but I do want to try and get recoup the money I spent on the tickets I am not using. I don't expect any money upfront but just a firm commitment to meet at a given time and place on the day to exchange tickets and money. If this is of interest then please contact me at chingchok95@gmail.com
I accept its a lot of money but along with everyone else I tried and failed to buy tickets on the day (spent an hour and a half constantly phoning the booking line to eventually get through and it was sold out) so have had to go down this route.

To whoever may buy these tickets at such an exorbitant price..........

BE VERY CAREFUL. As far as I'm aware NO ACTUAL TICKETS were posted out to buyers online or over the phone. We received an email purchase confirmation. The tickets are at the box office from an hour or so before the doors open. I think the only ACTUAL tickets out there were purchased in person from the box office that Friday morning.

If you read this, Darren Gil. My advice is do not pay any cash until the ticket has been scanned at the entrance and you are in the venue. If 'atropian' is genuine, he or she will understand and no problem.

As far as atropian's story goes, I don't believe a word. I reckon they managed to get hold of 4 tickets online that morning and is now selling 2 of them to pay for the trip over and take advantage of another fans desperation.

Or am I just cynical?

No, not cynical. I totally agree. It's one thing the genuine folk on this forum helping each other out for tickets for shows over the years. But this is taking things to a whole new level. It's touting at it's very ugliest. Perhaps atropian (" I HAD to buy four"!) can come back on here and suggest otherwise?
The way that the venue/ promoter has set up the ticket distribution, the "original" purchaser should be there at pick up time, bucket full of Euros exchange time and scanning upon entry time?
I smell shite !!

Just to let people know the tickets did come off and I was in the 4th row so probably the best 300 euros I have spent ( so thank you Mark )
Good to meet you Fr Mcgreer and Mats at the interval.
What a night the highlights for me were Finbar singing Kitty, Bobby Gillespie, Damien and Sinead and getting a ticket to the aftershow party ( meet Spider, Terry etc )
A total one off which will never be bettered

Does anyone have a recording of Finbar

Must be a legendary evening for all you happy boys and girls who had the preveledge to watch the show live.
Saw many of the vids and performances and I have to say that the duet of shane and nick is one of the most heartbreaking performances i have ever seen....
Its like the end of an era....two 60 y old friends and legends in totally different kind of health states....physically and mental...one (nick) had to care about the other one...and he did it with all the respect and love he deserves.....how he guided him into the venue...how he helped him during the performance....how he held his arm....how he kissed his head....a true deep friendship as its best!
And shane? I think this was a kind of a fairwell. Think we wont see him live on stage again....He seems to be very tired...frail...and under much pain medicine i think....but he tried his best for us. So thank you for all!
