According to The Mail On Sunday (Irish edition) he's going into the studio with The Cronins to record an album. Mick Jones to produce and Johnny Depp to guest. He told the Reporter he's quitting The Pogues, joining a gym and drinking tea in the studio. He says his writers block has gone and he's full of ideas. The Hyde park gig will be his last (UK?? Gig). Japan and France not mentioned.

Do you believe all you read?

Should i book late flights to London next weekend and try to pick up a ticket?  :?

I don't think this is the first time the Independent has quoted Shane or "unnamed friends" as saying he's done with The Pogues. Mind you, it's also probably not the first time Shane has said he's done, so who knows?

Shadowy people with their ears to the ground have said the Mick Jones production is quietly near being on the cards. Jones hasn't agreed yet.

It says on the T-shirts that the gigs in France and Japan are happening, so it must be true. So if catching the last-ever gig is what you're after, maybe flight and tickets for France might be more in order.

Can't help thinking (and hoping) that we've heard this a few times before though...

Wasn't Greenwich in 2011 supposed to be Shane's last ever gig with The Pogues? There were rumours circulating at the time[in the pubs around Greenwich mind!]that Shane had decided that enough was enough with The Pogues. We can only wait and see what happens on Saturday.
