Shane performing on "The Lone Ranger"

Post Sun Jul 07, 2013 4:25 am

It seems Shane contributed a new recording of "Poor Paddy Works on the Railway" to the soundtrack of The Lone Ranger. How 'bout that.

That's a great vocal from Shane. Who are the musicians? Why the fuck didn't The Pogues record material again? :x

Agreed - well done. And I also wonder who the band is...

Hey i'm always up for random speculation! It sounds pretty live to me, maybe from one of those shows w "The Shane Gang" perhaps, or their attempt at recording the other year?

It's a great version, Shane's voice is lovely, although it does lack a bit of the furiousness of the recent live versions I think. Especially the "FFFFRIGGIN or FFFFFUCKIN RAILWAYYY" part....know what I mean (no pun intended)...anyway, great to hear something from the Mighty Mac ^^ :-) Cheers Shane!

It's definately not the "Shane Gang" as was when they did two gigs in Dublin a few years back. They had a keyboard, drums and a couple of guitars (bass & rhythm??). The arrangement and instrumentation sounds to me almost identical to the original Roses album version.

So by process of elimination, it's The Pogues. 8)

Over to you Philip..........

EDIT

Just listened to it twice more and i reckon some Pogues are playing on it but other musicians in place of the missing Pogues. I'll stick my neck out and say Spider, James and Jem are there but the drummer is not Andrew.

Not possibly an older Popes recording?
