And I can't believe I've just gone and fixed a meeting on Sunday afternoon... a work meeting too! What was I thinking of?

Hmm, will have to do something about this. Stupid.

First time yesterday. Loved it. Sank a dozen pints of Guinness listening to Elvis, Beach Boys, Diana Ross, Steve Earle, Shane (obviously) Not heard 'Gabriele' for years. Even the England fans were the ok type. Too pissed to see the live band and had to get back to south east London but will be back soon . You know you're in a good bar when the lyrics of 'Broad Majestic Shannon' are painted on the garden wall and there's a painting of Joe Strummer beside the bar.

Gerry O'Boyle and the Boogaloo

OK bit of a cheat really, jus wanted to be a thread starter for once... but I've got a wee story about how I skipped town.. maxed out the credit card (Thankyou Lloyds TSB for giving me another £800, I mean I didnt even have to ask you for it!!) and undercover of the Glasgow Central to London Euston sleeper train, and with a delicious bottle Vodka red square as a faithful traveling companion made a pilgrimage to that infamous place...
The Friday night was awseome but no Mac' and no O'Boyle and I heard The Fratellis Chelsea Dagger for the 1st time (which has opened up a whole new realm of musical appreciation to me) courtesy of the very cute DJ, was dancing all night and then back the next day. Sign on the door said Saturday 2pm so we came back at 2pm, Mr O'Boyle came to the door in a white suit and waistcoat looking like Chicagos most productive bootlegger and said in that seductive Irish accent could we come back in a couple of hours... we returned just after 5.30 when the jukebox in our pub had been turned off for a football game (pretty sure it was Spurs) and passed a few hours with the icons themselves.... Gerry O'Boyle thought I was Lana Clarkson for a minute resurrected to pursue justice and see Phil Spector proved guilty of my murder!!!!

Lots of Love and please can we have some other Boogaloo stories of any persuasion?????

He is the owner of the highly trendy Pub "The boogaloo" in Highgate and good friends with Shane... he used to own Filthy MacNasty's (in north London???) where Shane used to hang around bout 10 yrs ago and apparantly Pete Doherty used to be a barman there back then!!!

Rhiannon,

What did you talk about with Shane and why is Gerry O'Boyle so cool?

Inside the Boogaloo

Well Andy my friend, it was 5 weeks ago now & I was effectively on a vodka drip...
When I 1st sat down Gerry O'Boyle said my eyes were popping out my head and made me where my shades!!!! very nice, thankyou!!!
We did talk about the Phil Spector case you see and I said "he killed her" and Shane agreed with me but Gerry O' said... he hasnt been tried yet then I said he kept Ronnie Spector a prisoner and Gerry O' Boyle laughed and said to Shane "Its Lana Clarkson!!!!!"
We talked about Steve Irwin (rest in peace) and Shane came out with a bit of a sick joke he'd been told the night before but it was a most excellent jest... wanna hear it??? you probably already have...
We talked about music. I had brought out a great stack of CDs for their perusal (one copy CD marked D. Shannon, I was gratified caught Gerry O'Boyles eye and he asked me if it was Del Shannon and it was)...Cant remember much else just now but maybe it'll come back to me.
Why is Gerry O'Boyle so cool??? I'm not too sure... maybe have to ask God that... he looked extremely groovy in his natty white suit (possibly what he'd worn to the Irish awards thingy the night before) and he posseses a very sexy voice... also he laughed at my jokes etc which must be a good thing!!!
I dont know anything about Filthy McNastys or the history of Gerry O'Boyles boozers but if anyone does I'd love to hear more.... 8)

Filthy’s is in Islington and is still a good boozer, I was in there over the summer. It’s still got plenty of Shane and Pogues related stuff on the walls.

There are loads of articles on the Boogaloo website about the history of Filthys.

"They interviewed Steve Irwin a few weeks ago and he was asked what his favorite childrens T.V programme had been, Irwin said "well Thunderbirds was definitely my favorite but there'll always be a place in my heart for Stingray"
