I got more info about the song - it was part of the set list in The Harp in Boston - 23rd June 2000. And apparently there's a bootleg of the gig. I also know that he sang it at the Eclipse Festival in Ireland in 2000 down in Waterville when the stage sank outside and the entertainment was moved inside. Any ehlp to anyone?

And finally the chorus (as far as I know) was the same musical notes as an Irish lullaby called 'Óró Bog Liom Í' - phonetcially sounds like Oh-row bug lum ee - which is where the Bugger me came from.

It's mentioned as a song on the set list of the Harp in Boston in 2000 - but maybe you're right. Maybe it was an idea that didn't quite get there and he was experimenting. Maybe. Anyone have the bootleg of that gig - June 18th (I think) 2000. Harp, Boston.
