The man of many words and few teeth has mastered fluent Czech, as well as his girlfriend Victoria Clarke. As unbelievable as it might seem, the Czech translation of A Drink With Shane MacGowan has just seen the light of day:

The generous translator treated Shane to substantially more alcohol than Victoria – in Czech, the book is titled The Booze-Up with MacGowan.:D It was brought out by Maťa, a small publishing house that specializes in alternative culture. (Among other books, they published Trainspotting or the authors of the Beat generation.) At first sight, the translation even looks acceptable, despite killing Victoria’s trademark style with adverbs at the end of all sentences, and despite very lame attempts at translating lyrics. By the way, Shane turns from a „sweet pea“ into „little sun“ in Czech. :)

Any idea whether Drink has been translated into any other languages? :?:

Great! My congratulations! :D "Booze-up" seems comic but it's really hard to select something similar to "a drink". I wonder how the translator coped with informal language....
Btw, pity it weren't you who translated The Book
