Stolen car had CDs with new songs on, reveals Scots hitmaker John ...
Scottish Daily Record - 10 hours ago
SCOTS songwriter John McLaughlin's Porsche was stolen from his drive on Wednesday - along with several brand new music tracks.
And to cap off one of the worst days of his life, he also broke his nose playing football.
John's silver Boxster was nicked from outside his home in Glasgow's west end.
The car contained CDs of two new songs he had produced with Pogues star Shane MacGowan and five new tracks by upcoming Scots star Carrie Mac.
John - who has also penned hits for Busted, Westlife and 911 - said: "The thief not only took the car, but also CDs from Carrie's new album which we were mixing and new songs by Shane.
"If whoever has the car turns on the CD player he'll hear Shane's voice haunting him. There was also dirty washing in the car so hopefully he'll be stunk out."
The same day his motor was stolen, John had his nose broken whilst playing football with his co-producer - then ended up going to hospital again to get ointment for an eye infection.
Sporting a shiner, John laughed: "I look more like a chief bell ringer than a record producer.
"At least it happened all in one day. I'm now going to have a rest for New Year.
"The Porsche is a couple of years old and was taken from the driveway in front of my house in Hyndland. As well as the CDs it also had washing in it - sports stuff - so at least it will smell.
"The CDs were all works in progress. We're mixing Carrie's album at the moment and I had the songs in the car.
"Luckily I have some kind of back-up on my dictaphone and I've been looking through the raw stuff all morning.
"Shane McGowan's CD was in the player so whoever has taken it will hear the ghost of Shane haunting them. We did a few tracks with Shane after he was at the Barrowlands so that's what was on it.
"My fellow producer Dave Thomas elbowed me in the nose during football and broke it.
"It means the end of my modelling career. I'll just have to model Armani pants now.
"I've just been to hospital and have to go back once the swelling is down. My wife Sharon won't let me do anything now in case I'm jinxed."
