I am afraid we will never see a new Shane album released. And to be honest, I wouldn't die to hear a duet album. Artists who've said all they ever had to say record duet albums. Of course, such an album can be pleasent to listen to, but I think we cannot expect any artistic / creative masterpieces from Shane anymore.
But let's not forget that some other Pogues are busy doing great stuff!

simple answer: no! There has been a talk about a "Twentieth Century Paddy" since 1999 then it turned into to the "1st Irish Paddy-beat acid house album" in 2004.

I can't wait for the next working title.
You see the facts speak against a new album. But who knows, he might surprise us all with the "First Irish trad. Drum'n'Bass paddy-dub folk'n'roll album" very soon

edit: fucking typos

according to this site he's been writing since autum last year. Check the frontpage:

official site wrote:He is working on new material for his next album (see previous posts about that topic), and is preparing for Xmas gigs (2004) with The Pogues as well as working with some great guest artists (names to be published once all arrangements have been confirmed) for his 'Month of Sundays' (Never took place) at Ronnie Scott's in January 2005.

His talent is multi-sided. Writing doesn't mean writing songs necessarily. Maybe he's struggling with prose... As they said (in 1998) "he has triggered a publisher's war after beginning work on his first volume of short stories."
Lingering trench war...
