I doubt greatly if the only reason there's no new Pogues' album is because of contractual obligations on Shane's part. I think it is much more likely that it is one more 'stumbling block' to a new album.
I would imagine that something such as that could be
reasonably easily overcome. I understand now that I didn't express what I was trying to say properly: what I had intended to suggest was that it was another in a list of reasons why
I don't think there is another Pogues' album in the pipeline any time soon.
All that being said, I should point out that I don't have any inside information here that would sway me either way and Messrs Stacy, Fearnley and Chevron who post here regularly have never given any concrete indication that there would
ever be a new Pogues album. Nor have they ruled it out.
Apart from the facts that I stated earlier regarding the record company expenses and such, the above is purely conjecture on my part and should be treated as such.
In any case, I wouldn't hold my breath for a new Pogues' album until you hear it from the horses' mouths.
