Shane/Bruce Springsteen meeting...

Remember reading that Springsteen met the Pogues backstage at a Dylan gig in LA circa 1989. Apparently, there was another meeting when he played The Point (Dublin) in 1996 - afterwards with Shane / Christy Moore / Joe Ely. Can anyone confirm this meeting took place?

Shane didn't play the California leg of the '89 tour (opening for Dylan) as he was not allowed to board the plane with the rest of band in London due to his intoxication. I saw the UC Berkely show at the Greek Theater. Great spot, nice show, unfortunate that Shane wasn't there. Dylan sucked at that show, by the way. His only saving grace was G.E. Smith's guitar.

I was at that Greek Theatre show too. Do I remember correctly that there was some problem with the band instruments not arriving in time? That they were playing on borrowed instruments?

I think we left halfway through Dylan.

While I didn't make these shows, reading the press makes me all nostalgic. I remember keying in these articles way back in '96 and '97. Ahhh ... Good times.
