Skrewdriver were just a bunch of nice kids from Blackpool. They signed to Chiswick Records at the same time as The Radiators and their first couple of singles and first album were released at more or less the same time as ours. As Mick says, the White Supremacist shite came later. All the same, it has been difficult to separate the innocent early records from the hateful later ones in the minds of their brainless fans, who cherish "You're So Dumb", "Anti-Social" (the singles) and "All Skrewed Up" (the LP) as the early work of their band. These have never been reissued by Chiswick/Ace records. In turn, this has made these records highly valued by collectors. They are constantly being removed from listings by eBay, which has a corporate policy of not tolerating any artefacts which might be construed as fascist, Nazi or neo-fascist.
For the record, Skrewdriver's Chiswick ouput was adequate, enthusiastic identipunk. Without the later history, the records would probably today be viewed with no more than wry nostalgia. And my understanding is Grinny joined the Nips soon after this episode in his life.
