I have the video - one of my favorite parts is when he sings 'Kitty' in the pub. There's also a couple of other little snippets added onto the end of the video - I can't quite remember where I got my hands on it...

I wonder if the "artist and his gin" video is from the infamous concert where Shane had to be lead off stage because he was so sloshed. It's also available on film I think

But he looks so "lazy" I think, in recent videos of him he has so much more energy (event in If I should Fall from Grace).

One thing that strikes me when watching The Great Hunger is how much better he sounds now. At the time they filmed, I think he was on painkillers for the broken hip, but they didn't mention that.

I saw The Great Hunger quite soon after it was made and several times since - to be honest I find it very depressing. Shane was on more than painkillers for a broken hip - he was a Heroin addict.

Could one of my British compadres inform the House as to whether the Folk Britannia series has yet made its way onto commercially available DVD. Our Aunty ABC markets many of its series this way, and one would assume that Great-Aunty Beeb would do the same. Any word?

yeah, i downloaded that from the torrent a while back, used audio hijack to rip the songs out, i liked 'em so much.

what i liked most about it was that it sought to look at shane as a writer in the irish ballad tradition, rather than just go on about his teeth and his drunken antics. what a breath of fresh air. and christy & sinead's performances are breathtaking.

Just watched it (from that torrent). Beautiful, Thankyou so much for letting me know this existed. I'm not really a huge fan of Christy Moore or Sinead O'connor but I have to agree their performances were amazing ( and I beiieve Sinead O'connor is one of the most beautiful creatures on earth with a little hair on her head ... Shane's mother hasn't held up bad either ).

The only thing that irks me about this is Bono, I really should let it go but I can't, I truly dislike Bono, I know I should leave this for another time but every word he says in his ambiguous acceptable Irish/american accent really makes me want to punch him hard in the face. He's just so ... okay, okay, sorry, i'll let it go. Anyway thanks.

The world would certainly be a less unctuous place if Bono, much as I love him, did not feel the urge to comment on absolutely everything that happens in it. You died? Are you sure?? Bono has yet to comment, so your death remains in doubt.
