Bops, Bovver n Montreux

Post Wed Feb 18, 2009 4:52 pm

Last week someone in america sent me home cd called Nips'n'Nipple Erectors : BOPS,BABES,BOOZE & BOVVER. What a fuckin class CD if anyone has it. If ya dont, get it. 10 out of this world Nips tunes. Have never really bothered with the Nips before but fuck that there up there with the pistols, the clash and all the other major punk bands of that eera. How they werent even bigger is beyond me. Anyhow just a reccomendation for anyone who hasnt got it. Listenin/whtchin live at montreaux at teh mo. Just arrived in the door from cdwow.ie for only €12. Happy days fuckin class DVD. Need a multi region player for it though. What about a NIPS reunion for Electric Picnic this year? Or Nips live at Croker? Ok they prob wont but they fuckin should be!!!!!

I just got this one and Crock of Gold on the same day, and the Nips absolutely blow Crock of Gold out of the water. If this band would have stuck around long enough to release a proper album, I imagine they would be listed alongside The Damned, The Jam and The Buzzcocks in the upper tier of first wave punk bands.

Yeah, but then we never would have had the Pogues!

I was suprised at how great they were when I first heard the disc. Gabrielle is a real stick-in-your-head kinda song that has "radio hit" written all over it. Except apparantly not.

There is an interview with Shanne Bradley on punkglobe:

http://www.punkglobe.com/shannebradleyi ... w0110.html

Among other things she mentions this:

"Punk Globe: Any chance that the band will be playing any shows in 2010?
Shanne: Yes. I am very optimistic about that. "

"Punk Globe: Have you done been in the studio doing any recording?
Shanne: We have done about 4 tracks. so far. Still more to do. Shane has bought a new Gretsch guitar. Prepare for gut wrenching. He is working on his feedback, "

I ain't doin' no deal with the devil until he starts a loyalty card scheme.
