Rogues Gallery

Post Thu Dec 06, 2012 2:36 pm

Leaving of Liverpool

Doc Harry, my friend who recently passed turned me onto to the first edition of the "Rogues Gallery" collection. He would have loved hearing this.

What is this about "It is sung by ex-Pogue Shane MacGowan in a gruff sailors' accent so authentic that it's nearly incomprehensible."
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

That's excellent news, CC, thanks for posting. I thoroughly enjoyed the first Rogue's Gallery compilation, and didn't know there was another one on the way.

The track sounds comprehensible enough for Shane ("ex-Pogue", pah!), though I'd definitely lose the twiddly guitar break.

Not sure about "It seems happier – not as much about torture, sodomy and death." This doesn't sound a good idea at all. You want a bit of torture, sodomy and death on a good album.

Though looking at the list of artists - "Tom Waits, Keith Richards, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Sean Lennon and Frank Zappa..." - you can't help feeling there'll be a decent amount of darkness there somehow.

Nice coup to get Zappa on an album 19 years after his death!

Can't keep a good man down.

It's a pirate album. They'll need a skull and crossbones.

Apologies for tastelessness.
