For someone who doesnt want to sift their way through Shane's non-pogues material, this is something to look forward to.

Great news! Ive made various DIY Shane comps but they inevitably turn into a mixture of his solo stuff and pogues tracks! Nothing wrong with that, but when faced with such a plethora of top notch material, cutting tracks is like giving away a limb! At least this way the decision shall be made for me and the other undecisive people like me! Good stuff!

You can find the complete "Rakes, Rats, Pricks & Kicks: An Anthology" tracklist here.
Quite an odd selection and order of songs. :)

Interesting that there are no Pogues tracks on the anthology. I suppose the Brothers Warner were not willing to participate.

Maybe they omitted tracks with the Pogues intentionally... What surprises me is the large number of live tracks (the Pogues songs performed live with the Popes). Are they taken from Across the Broad Atlantic album? As much as I enjoy the album as a kind of amusing curiosity, I really don’t think that any stuff from it should ever be included into any "best of" compilation. Why not include other Shane’s collaborations instead – songs like Road to Paradise, Tomorrow Belongs to Me, Ride On, God Help Me, Tri Martolod, Long Black Veil... Perhaps a matter of other companies not willing to participate. Anyway, the Anthology seems pretty haphazard and incomplete the way it is. And if there is any logic behind the ordering of the songs, I haven’t been able to detect it either (live FONY with Theresa MacGowan followed by Gabrielle seems a pretty murderous combination). :)

I think your selection would have been superior.

It is on hold for some reason. Check http://shane-macgowan.co.cc for the official reply of the label manager.
