Just a quick note. I think it should be pointed out:

It's not just a Stiff Records Tribute night headlined by Shane. It's also a fundraiser for Aisling!

The Aisling Return to Ireland Project works with vulnerable Irish men and women in London and helps connect them to their homeland. This London-Irish charity is closely connected to the London Irish Centre and Arlington house, the biggest homeless hostel in Europe which has been home to more Irish men than any other building outside Ireland. The aims of the Aisling Project are:

- Reaching out to Irish people who are vulnerable, isolated and alone.
- Providing supported holidays in Ireland for long-term emigrants, fulfilling what is for many a dream of seeing their homeland again.
- Helping long-term emigrants reconnect with their families and friends.
- Helping long-term emigrants resettle in Ireland.
- Offering a friendly supportive service in an environment that encourages self-worth and personal development.
- Building trust in order to develop future support and continuing friendship.

Tom McManamon (God bless his soul) worked for Aisling benefit quietly but effectively.

If you would like to go along, mention Aisling when booking your tickets, in advance or on the door, and £3 of what you pay will be donated to the Aisling!

Aisling is a brilliant charity. I think their photos say it all:

They had an exhibition of those some years ago at the V&A, very moving, and I seem to remember that Shane was involved in some way. Although Bono, inevitably, produced the foreword to the book.

Shane @ Brixton Jam Video

Post Wed Jul 22, 2009 8:45 am

Hi guys n gals,

Well that was the best weekend of my life...Went to see The Pogues at Madstock. They blew Madness out of the water. Great seeing and hearing the bold Philip again.

Then there was Saturday....I was scheduled to open the show for Shane. Little did I know, my luck was in...Big time.

Chanced my luck and asked Shanes backing band if I could join them for guitar/vocals during the set....They said "no problem" and the 25 mins that followed were the happiest of my life. Sharing a stage with my hero....pure magic.

We played If I Should Fall From Grace With God, Sally MacLennan, Dirty Old Town, The Broad Majestic Shannon and the Irish Rover.

This is the only clip so far...Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0FzM1cHbmY
