Nips/Pogues/Popes/Sharon

Post Thu Apr 30, 2009 4:37 pm

There all great obviously but anyone have preferences??? I think this new venture with Shannon is his best work to date! I know its mainly pogues covers but on songs like courtin in the kitchen with mundy and dessie and co joining in.....well, ya just cant bate it! Pity Shane wasnt part of the group when they did the dvd. Anyone whos been to these gigs will agree that its a super night. Cant wait for Portlaoise. Cant make the olympia and would love to be back in da circle going nuts again. Them were the days!! Is there a full version of courtin in da kitchen with shane involved on youtube any1 know? Came across a dodgy early popes gig at some festival.

I don't think anything Shane has done musically can top the work that he did with the Pogues. :|

I couldn't agree more. Although some of the other (Nancy Whiskey, Victoria etc. have that old hook to them) I know asking for a new Pogues CD might be a bit much, It would be amazing to see our boys as they are now put together a new collaboration.
Believe me when I tell you I'm damn glad just to be able to see The Pogues play together presently.
If being in the studio might lead to stiring up old issues then forget I mentioned it.

Really? I personally don't think I'd want to see a new album. I mean, new material is always good, but I'm afraid that it would be like U2's new stuff...good, but not as good as it used to be. I don't know; I've seen too many artists try to put out new music and it's just not the same. Just my opinion, though :)

it would be much better for everyone if you just admitted to yourself that U2 sucks.

and I mean that nicely because I respect you. but really.....and new album...no new album...either way...some would love it...some would hate it. kinda like being the President. damned if you do. damned if you don't.

I'm getting there, chinaski. It's hard to admit this after six years of being a raging U2 fan. But I'm getting there, and I hope that helps  I probably won't ever admit that they suck, but I will admit that Bono is not the god I once thought he was. The songs that I once thought were raw and emotional now seem somewhat...contrived, I guess. Forced. :?

For now, the Joshua Tree poster still hangs in my room. It probably won't go back up when I move in a few weeks, though...

Ahh, I see what's happeing here - after months of everyone wanting a new album and getting nothing, it's now time for reverse psychology?
I wouldn't want to see a new album either, especially if it contains 'unfinished business' - tunes culled from the box set and reworked, oh no, I'd hate for that to happen

Dont be swayed Girl, early U2 stuff was brilliant (everyone now knows that Bono is anal) and i think they tend to not like U2 because of him rather than there earlier music. It seems to have become the "in thing" to not like them.

Agreed, a new album would suck and lets all pray together that no "new" songs are introduced at any any live shows (heh, heh, heh).
