Actually, they released a few albums.
And had their most successful single internationally
If that's "nowhere", then I don't even think "somewhere" will ever be attainable for anyone.

That would be one album - waiting for herb. Pogue Mahone doesn't count since most of the band was gone by then so not really comparing apples to apples.
For the single being "...their most successful..." Brittney Spears sells more albums - so what does that really mean? Tuesday Morning was a good song not a great song, Spider is a good singer not a great singer (phrasing wise) but is great on the tin whistle, truly great.
I said "Nowhere" in the sense that the Pogues were about to go Nova when things started to fall about and ended with Shane kicked out and nothing any of them did afterward came near what they did together. Overall (1) they were better together than apart (2) Shane’s solo work is more like John Lennon's solo work still exploring the same themes whereas The Pogues w/o Shane were more like Paul McCartney, mostly pop. Often, what gets you there is the same thing that can bring you down
Funny how no one responded to the main point of this thread - relationships between fan and performer; my main point was music is a two way street and there needs to be some form of relationship between musician and performer, just not a personal one - it is just not a passive one like a movie.
It's never about the money, as long as you have some...
