In Toronto, of all places, the crowd was so tiny that I made a point of introducing myself personally to everybody in the audience, so that we were at least on first name terms for the rest of the gig.

I had missed the show here in Vancouver... without even knowing yourself & Mr. Woods were on the bill! Tragic indeed. That live set definately sounds like something that should be either released or circulated in the trading communites. It's plain unfair to keep that from us all. Why i'd offer up my own son in exchange... (well, maybe just as free labour for the packaging to make the project affordable).

Now who ever said Shane couldn't be replaced?

I hear that Shane and The Dubliners are playing Fitzpatricks Irish Bar in Aberdeen on 7th March - is this true?

And that’s where the legs of the question grew from.
This is like reading intercepted underhand talks. I was following the thriller for days and finally caught meself starting to share worries – “will he make it or not”
It’s hilarious, and the author of this fraud has a business streak and an imagination…

Ahh. That's all kinds of awesome. The power of faith is an amazing thing.

"A pub owner says he's going to be here."
"But the Pogues are playing in Florida that night. That's documented all over the place."
"Well I know a guy who's best makes with a guy that totally works with Shane, and he says it's happening."
"Well ... But the Pogues are going to be in Florida that night. Maybe they're playing without Shane?"
"This is TOTALLY happening."
"I heard that Shane is skipping the first show of the US tour so that he can do this show in the bar."
"Maybe he's going to do this show, then fly from Aberdeen to Miami, and do that show? It could happen."
“I know all those people that were in the film [...] But that’s when they were young and strong and full of life, you know?”

 I didnt look into flight schedule but.. Woudnt it be a great temptation to stuff Shane into a plane to Aberdeen instead of a plane to Florida?

Hire any bunch of passer-bys and persuade them to insist they are from Dublin. Anybody from Dublin is a Dubliner... ;)

Yeah, everyone seems very shocked that Shane was a no-show, yet nobody seems all that put out about the Dubliners' no-show.

The whole thing is just shocking. Shocking I say!

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your reply. It would be my pleasure to send you a copy of the recording. We're currently in the midst of a 21-date European tour, and will be flying home at the end fo March. I will send the CD immediately upon my return.

That was the funniest ever. I read all 9 pages and couldn't wait as it got to the night of the gig. Poor old BIZ

Wow!

This keeps getting better and better.

It seems (from unverified forum posts) that the pub has now gone out of business. This saga has long since stopped being about Shane & the Dubliners and become something altogether more exciting ...

They're arguing now about the fact that using a smilie  gives you diplomatic imunity from anything you say. Must try that.

The drama rages on... Once a joke, it has now made it to a serious official level with big guns (in the persons of the involved parties' representatives) firing off...
