Dublin Aftershow - Shane to DJ in Eamonn Dorans

Bumped into the wonderful Shane after the primal scream gig last night at which he performed a song with the band making a great gig even better. Anyway i was informed that after the Dublin gig on dec 22nd Shane will be DJ in Eamonn Dorans Temple bar .This will be a charity event where all proceeds will be going to buy toys for the Irish Assocation for children in care and Barnardos.tickets will be available on the night ,but i suggest ya run up really fast from the RDS cos Dorans aint that big .for more info contact the mad woman who told me about it maryeagle@rocket.com

Shane will be spinning some of his vinyl in Eamonn Dorans Temple Bar after the Dublin gig on Dec 22nd.This a charity night and all money will be spent on toys for children in care and need . so come down ,have a great night and make some kid smile on Christmas morning !

I think I’ll throw some confirmations in, to give it a nice touch of respectability:

1. Shane confirms his participation. He is “definitely doing both after show parties” (London on 19th Dec, Dublin on 22nd Dec).
2. Dermot D Doran (a manager of Eamonn Doran’s) confirms hosting the charity party after Dublin show. He’s sure “thats going to be a great nite”... And looks forward to seeing you all.
3. IAYPIC and Barnardos confirm their involvement in the venture and are delighted to be the beneficiary of the toys from the Eamonn Doran’s gig.


IAYPIC (Irish Association of Young People in Care) is a National Association for children and young people in care, or who have experienced being in care.

It would be great to see Shane doing a DJ set in Eammonn Dorans. We will visit the Dublin gig and it would be a great after party in the middle of Temple Bar. Does anyone know somehting about the tickets for this occassion? Is there a presale? Can I buy tickets at the door? and from what time on?

Post-gig events in both Dublin and London are organised without the cooperation, assistance, involvement or blessing of the Pogues. Often/usually, such events advertise Shane MacGowan as Guest DJ and, while nobody else in the Pogues is in a position to say whether or not Shane will be attending as Guest DJ or in any other capacity, we are certainly in a position to note that such billing has, on a number of occasions, turned out to be hyperbole.

I can say nothing regarding pre-sale. All I know for the moment is “tickets will be available on the night”. I assume its “first come – first served” system. But I am in a process of investigation and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I learn something new.

I can understand why the band wants to distance from the London after-show party. It’s getting promoted as “The Pogues Official”, let it be on organizers’ or promoters’ (or whoever’s idea it was to exploit band’s name) conscience. While in fact The Popes and cupla other bands are to play and Shane is supposed to take part, DJing or joining The Popes. That’s all.

I try and fail to get issues regarding Dublin after-show party. Yes, Shane was approached and kindly agreed to do the charity. It’s not something organized behind his back, he is aware of the event and always was eager to do it. Nobody ever mentioned The Pogues in connection with it as far as I know. The only connection is the charity at Eamonn Dorans takes place after The Pogues gig in RDS, dot.

Last year Spider DJed at Voodoo Lounge after The Pogues gig. Announcement of the party evoked reasonable fans’ interest and no statements or opposition from the rest of the band. Dunno why it should be other way this year.

Life is a lottery, always. Nobody can give away 100% guarantees about Shane’s presence or Shane’s “form”, even Shane himself. Shane used to DJ at BP Fallon’s Death Discos a lot but failed to appear at New York Death Disco St. Patrick’s party in 2006. Such is life and shite happens. We don’t push you into anything, we just inform about opportunities. You decide to give it a try or not.

And before making your decision regarding that particular party analyse:
- what is your main task of going there
- what do you risk besides those 10Euros (problems with getting home in early hours, duties of that night or next day, etc) and
- what will grieve you more – coming and not seeing Shane or not coming and missing him?
Think and decide. Whatever you will decide it will be your decision. Complaints like “I’d escaped from my wedding bed and Shane didn’t appear” sound stupid.

I risk nothing of that all, have a hotel nearby so no problem neither are the 10 euros and yep i would be sad if i missed it!

Yep I went to Eamonn after the gig, and i am so fucking glad I went there!
Even had the chance to shake Shane's hand, that was great!!!!
He also did If i should fall from grace, with the band that was playing there, brilliant.
So in one word it was awesome.
Back in Holland now , but gonna be back next year!!!

What a night. Met Shane outside dorans and got me photo with him. Fuckin unreal. Inside he was over shakin everyones hand and listenin to what everyone had to say. Then If I should fall was class. I was right at the stage. He was on top form. And as and for the gig in the rds, well there only gettin better each year!!!
