Um, hard to say but "Lonesome Highway" is definitely up there. Also "Nancy Whiskey", "Paddy Public Enemy No 1", "Aisling", "Song With No Name" (actually "Song With No Name" could possibly be my fave - see I've changed my mind already!).

Oh and I love the Popes version of "She Moved Through The Fair" as well. Corking intro.

I know it's not necessarily a "solo" song, but hearing Ronnie Drew sing "The Dunes" is absolutely fucking incredible. It is on youtube somewhere...Ronnie sining solo....I just can't be fucked to find it at the moment.................
I'm wondering what kind of instrumentation Shane would have put on a recorded version of this?
