I'm so out of the loop. I totally could have made it to that show.
Thanks for posting the images.

I think I'd pass out with excitement if I saw these two boscos at the same gig

You can bet, Rambler!

Some kind soul has uploaded these two excerpt so far. Unofficially. Producers hinted at official samples. Some day.

The Parting Glass - Shane McGowan

Broad Majestic Shannon - Liam Clancy

On Thursday RTE showed short version of the gig. The full concert is due to be released on DVD in Ireland on November 7th. The long version of the concert will be on RTE over the Christmas schedule (no particular date for that yet).

Well thanks for those links, that was lovely. It'll be nice to see that DVD when it's released.

If it was anybody else butchering Parting Glass like that, I would call it terrible. But since it is the Irish Treasure, I know it’s more proper to call it unique. ;)
And I wonder whether Liam’s stuffing the word "Shane" into the lyrics of Broad Majestic Shannon was just for the sake of Shane sitting in the audience or whether he’s is going to release it as a tribute song...
Thanks for digging these gems out, M!

Shane's now worked with Terry Woods, Ronnie Drew AND Liam Clancy. Shit, we only need the ghosts of Luke Kelly and John MacCormack to do a duet with on Joe Hill for Irish music to actually collapse under the weight of giants stood together.

Saying that, having watched it a few more times, ain't it a shame this never happened in 1988, when Shane still had something to prove and Liam Clancy wasn't yet a dyed-in-the wool stage Oirishman from a 1930s New York Bowery Theatre play?

Slaps on the aran-jumpered backs all round.
