Yeah, it was fun..... Popes at The Gaelic Club, Sydney - no Shane - we sad but bopping away anyway just in case he flew in unexpectedly.... long story short, I get up to sing Dirty Old Town - get asked (by said Paul) what 'key' I'd like it in (like he'd ask any usual pissed crowd-member as if they had no idea ) I say "Any key yez fuckin' like" - he turns to band and sez - "Oi, we've got a smartarse/live one something here lads" - they launch in - I launch in - crowd goes reasonably in the direction of nuts (for me anyway) - get to end - stagger off - get bought cúpla pionta - get accused (jokingly) of being a 'plant' (YES, we ALL know what kind) - go home slightly chuffed. Still am. So sue me......

I was at the afore mentioned gig and I remember you very clearly. I remember saying to myself: "Who the hell is that prick doing what I'd like to do??" I thought you were a member of the support band or something. I believe going on stage to sing with Shane must have been the only way to save the gig though ... All in all I enjoyed myself but it wasn't because of the great musical skills presented though.

Hehe, allright! Yeah, that experience pretty much "saved" the whole trip.
Musically it was, objectively speaking, close to pathetic. But when friends asked me how it was, of course I replied: BRILLIANT!
