lol ok then i withdraw my "aww bless them!" and replace it with a respectful "good for them" as they are officially to old for that response!

Oh, I dunno, everybody's kids could use a blessing from time to time.

Me too! Does this make us sad, sad people or can we put a more positive spin on it somehow?

So what if they don't think they want to be blessed? Don't give in!

 Let's see, how 'bout that line from Joni Mitchell? 'You don't know what you've got til it's gone"?

Seriously though, running around with 3 kids, a full time job, wondering why I felt so tired all the time? Dreaming I'd brought the youngest with me to work? Nah, I don't miss it. Well not the tired part anyway.

I was just reading some of these posts as I am rather new to this forum. I have an 11 year old daughter who definitely has an old soul when it comes to music. When she was very young, oh, about 1 month my dad would hold her and dance around the kitchen to the Dubliners and Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. By 2 she could sing alot of the songs. At the ripe old age of 4 she got into Johnny Cash. I've been everywhere being her favourite. Now at 11 I keep finding my Pogues CD' s in her room. I finally let her get Pogues songs on her tablet so I can have my CD' s back. So her Christmas wish for this year is to have the Pogues come back to the States one more time! Preferably Chicago, Milwaukee would be even better!
That's my wish too!

Somehow this thread passed me by. My girls (now aged 9 & 10) are currently arguing about which Pogues song goes on in the car on the way to school in the morning. This week Youngest wants London Girl and Eldest demands Turkish Song Of The Damned.

Oh happy days 8)

Here they are aged 4 & 5............

LOVE IT, but did you have to yank out the poor kids teeth to make her sound like Shane?
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

Sitting at the Doctor's office with my then-7 year old. There's a picture of a healthy liver next to a hepatitis-infected, damaged liver, and she says "I think that's what Shane MacGowan's liver looks like."

Here's my difficult middle child jamming along with Billy Joel?! (You try to raise them well, but they end up into the devil music anyway, *sigh* )

She better be, after what we've spend on 10 years of lessons! :)

But yeah, thanks, i'm pretty impressed too, esp. since she used to be terrified of improvisation, and indeed only did her first ever 2 years ago.

Her older brother plays guitar. His first song was "Dirty Old Town". Right now he's working on "Classical Gas" so he's come some way himself!
