I know the German translation of 'Green Fields of France', called 'Es ist an der Zeit'. That song can make me cry (no, not sung by Hannes Wader, but by Eric Fish).

Seeing as I'm already posting in this thread;

* Lorelei (Fernweeeh!)
* Abendlied -Subway to Sally
* Sandmann - Letzte Instanz

Ich auch, gnädige Fräulein. 'Es ist an der Zeit' = 'It is Time' auf English, nicht wahr? Entschüldigung Sie bitte, ich spreche nür ein kleine bisschen Deutsch jetzt.

Yeah me too.

You should be here in Oz on Anzac Day (April 25th)....ANYONE can sing that song, even me, and be guaranteed a chance at making the tears flow.... Eric bloody Bogle, you ripper....

There's a guy, Bob Kerrey, who was a Navy SEAL and a Vietnam veteran. He lost part of one of his legs in combat and won a Medal of Honor. Later, he was governor of the state of Nebraska, and still later he was later a U.S. senator from Nebraska. I've never heard him sing the song, but he's known for singing it. I don't get the impression that he's got a great voice, but it seems that, given his personal history, on occasions when he's sung it in public, it never fails to bring tears to people's eyes.

Are they easily confused? Do bright lights dazzle them, and loud noises render them frightened? :lol:

Yeah. Old Fintan is a virtual comedian. Give him whiskey, wind him up, and off he goes. :roll: :lol: 8) ...and goes...and goes.... like a little green foul mouthed multilingual energizer bunny. ...and at this rate, he will have more posts than anyone in no time at all... and we can all find out what clever nickname comes next.

And what's with all this crying over here on this thread? :? Alright... I'll admit it.... I've cried to Running up that Hill by Kate Bush. :o .....and Waltzing M.... and Thousands.... and a host of others. Hell, I remember bawling to A Place For Us by Streisand :shock: over a girlfriend.

There's ~1,200 people that could pretty quickly make a call on that.
