Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Post Sat May 27, 2006 8:54 pm

I don't think this will happen anytime soon but the Pogues should be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They started their own form of music, did what they wanted to do, they were steadfast on their style and not giving in to musical trends, they were more consistant and had better songwriting than the Clash, Sex Pistols or Ramones but since the Hall of Fame is from Amerikay they are looking for somebody that made it big there. Too Bad!

Besides that, sometimes I feel I'm the only one who heard of the Pogues in my day to day life here in Amerikay!! With the exception of those who come to see us perform.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Post Tue Mar 13, 2007 2:58 pm

Article in USA Today about the Rock and Roll HOF.

Nothing in the article about the Pogues, but they are listed
as Longshots for 2010!

THE PEST SHOP BOYS?!? :x
It would be nice if both Nick Cave and the Pogues were inducted in 2010.

It would be ironic if the Pogues went in at the same time as the people who dashed their chance for a Christmas No.1

It will be even sweeter when the Pogues go in and the Pet Shit Boys are left on the vine to die...

Speaking of Pet Shit Boys dying did anyone see this news from yesterday?

"The plane carrying Pet Shop Boys and their entourage from Chile to New Zealand was close to being hit by Russian satellite wreckage, it has been reported."

This is absurd. So many inconsistencies and just flat out .....wishes. I understand Madonna, and Metal..., and Red Hot C P, etc... but Fine Young Cannibals? I mean I liked them, but to put them in before the English Beat, for example? Who would let that happen, and I could go on and on. If it is by record sales, then whatever. But I don't think its just that. I never even thought it would be possible, but now that I think about it (becouse of this fucking article) the Pogues should be there ... and that would give me another opportunity to see them play. Geez... there would have to be a lot of coaching and promising ... then again, I just saw Patty Smith's performance upon getting in, and she was bleeped in more consecutive words than I can remember hearing on a cable channel.
What kind of fuckery is this?

It is 25 years after your first recording. When I do the math I come up with 2009, so it must be that you are eligible to be nominated after 25 years and can get in the 26th?

Don't get me started on the HoF. It should've been discontinued years ago.
Notice that Patti played "I Wanna Be Your Dog"...to signify the stupidity of Iggy Pop NOT being in it. Say what you want about Ig, he IS rock and roll and he was playing bona fide punk rock in the goddamn 60s. And now he IS in his 60s and...like I said, don't get me started.

On the other side of the coin, the Monkees aren't in either, and they also should be.

I would hope the Pogues would follow the example of the Sex Pistols and tell them to fuck OFF if they ever offer. I don't think they ever will. though.
Disclaimer: These are my opinions and not fact as realised in these here United States, lest I give my friends the idea that everyone thinks like me.

Yeah, Dan Patrick and KO were talking about this on The Big Show today. They said Iggy won't get in because of roids and HGH. They compared him to Big Mac. They also compared Shane to Pete Rose. They said the lyrics of Bottle Of Smoke will probably keep him out of the hall. Gammons said it looks real good for Hootie And The Blowfish in 2019.

Long live Albert Belle, Shane MacGowan, Eddie Murray, John Lydon, Billy Ripken and Iggy and the fucking Stooges!!!!!!!!!

Uh, I can say I saw two between these names live: Shane (with the Pogues) and Iggy, Stooges included. The ironic fact is that the day after or before the Stooges (can't remember) Shane was playing in the same city, at the same festival, with the Popes, and I wasn't able to go two for two nights.

Caught the Stooges on The Henry Rollins Show last night.

Must agree with O'Blivion that Iggy snubbed by the HOF is a crime.
