I finally made the splurge and ordered these two remastered/reissued copies off of Ebay last night in a bit boozy moment...Can't wait to hear them both in their fullest sound.

As for which is better, I don't think it's fair to give one a higher rating than the other....both different and both great.

I used to think Hell's Ditch was a stronger record than Peace and Love, but the older I get the more I enjoy Peace and Love...I give them an equal ranking.

Hells Ditch or Peace and Love

Post Fri Apr 29, 2005 12:24 pm

I think Hells Ditch is such a great album with songs like Rain Street, Summer In Siam, The Sunny Side Of The Street and The Wake Of The Medusa. I have listened to it a lot since i got the remastered version. Hells ditch for me.

Peace & Love or Hell's Ditch?

Post Sun May 01, 2005 12:06 am

Always liked Peace & Love, and never really very keen on Hells Ditch. Got the new remastered cd and its like finding a lost album. I always liked the 'feel' of Hells Ditch, but not the songs so much, now I find its a real grower, having played the earlier albums to death.
Still have to say P& L, but its getting closer.

even completely disliked by some Pogues fans

How can any Pogue fan say they don't like P+L and Hell's Ditch...?

But back to the topic I much prefer Peace and Love because I like the style a bit more, there is no doubting that Hell's Ditch is a worldly album and I'm not a big fan of worldly...i'd rather hear about how London is a lady and where the paddies and frogs go to gamble on the dogs and about the Boat train and the of the rodents in Gartloney and the night train and about America.
But saying that Hells Ditch is an excellent CD with goo songs (rain street is one of my favorites).
So be easy and free when your drinking with me..

My favourite thing by Lorca is The Old Lizard. The only poem I remember of the whole book I have.
Sorry for off topic
