Have always really liked this track. Think its got a great "New Wave/Punk Vibe, with a cool Middle Eastern twist." Would be really intrested if anyone can shed some more light on it e.g. who wrote it, how it came to exist, lyrical content etc etc...

Darryl wrote it, and I think it's one of those Pogues tracks that has slipped under the radar a little. It's very rarely mentioned, but I also think it's an excellent track. I think you've described it perfectly when you say it's got a "New Wave vibe" - I'd go with that, yeah. In fact I haven't heard it for ages, and I'm now going to put it on, so thanks for that!

Nice one, thanks for replying thought this might be my first duck with zero responses on the forum. Kind of thought I might be going out on a limb with an album track off "Waithing For Herb" in terms of getting he responses flooding in! Glad there is someone else out there who thinks it is a bit of a hidden jewel in the back catalogue. Still, don't think I will be starting a campaign to get it in the setlist for Brixton Academy 2008.

Cheers

No, somehow I can't see it making it onto the live sets...

But ne'er mind, it's still nice when it pops onto the stereo now and again and you go, "ooh, forgot about this one..."

EDIT: I meant to add, I like the Middle Eastern influence on this track as well, which puts me in mind of "Turkish Song Of The Damned". Though only a bit.
