like bob marlley ,the pogues sound good anywhere

If you think bob marley in the 70s/80s used his ownd jamican regge music which was on his own front door, and played it all over the world. And you didnt have to be a Jamican 'pot head' to enjoy it. [...] That sterotype is probably why the pogues werent as 'mainstream' as they should of been, because somepeople did brand it stupid 'druken paddy music' without listening to the music and lyrics.

Concerning Marley, it's strange to note that when him and his songs became famous, Kingston or even Jamaica inhabitants no more listened to them... As we say in french, "nul n'est prophète en son pays" (which means more or less that nobody is recognized at his real value in his own country). And I wondered if the Pogues had known the same phenomenon..

About Pogues' music and lyrics, when I listened carefully to understand what they said, I was really amazed bye the depth of some songs' lyrics... just like Bob Marley lyrics, could we say :)

I nevr pay attention to album charts anyway, but maybe it's because that album was there fourth greatest hits album and maybe people didn't want the live CD as much as others.
