At the risk of coming off as obssessed or personally and eternally offended by Philips remarks regarding the lack of engagement among band members, I can't hold back from commenting on the above quote.
Loving the Pogues and
being a Pogue is a completely seperate existence. It's only my opinion, but an outsider's degree of familiarity with the individual solo work is negligible, whereas a deliberate display of disinterest within the group should be called to question. When the Pogues come back to the USA, I'm going to present each and every one of them with a "greatest hits mix" of the others' music. And, you'll have me to thank for their awakening and the new Pogues album that the exposure inspires! Maybe world peace will come about it, too. HA!

I would have to question your suggestion of "a deliberate display of disinterest". On the contrary, all the extra-curricular Pogues stuff goes on the Must Listen pile along with the other dozen or so free CDs one picks up almost as a matter of course in a week as a working musician. Whether they ever make it off the pile and into the CD player is an element governed by any number of factors. Willingness is never in question.
Philip- (warning, this is a very pointed email.) But as always, thanks for the response and especially the sentiment. Good to know the lack of interest is non-deliberate. Be that as it may, I said/wrote it before and I'll say/write it again, I challenge each and every one of you (the Pogues) to 100% fully support one another's craft/livelihood/artistry/passion/fruits of labor by taking the 80 minutes or less and giving a proper listen to the brain childs of your good mates' endeavors. For example, obviously I can't speak for your bandmates, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and play unsolicited dime store psychologist ... no musical rags' review or record unit sales / Billboard charting could possibly be more significant and meaningful than receiving honest feedback, or just plain acknowledgment of just one complete listen, from the author of such classics as "Thousands Are Sailing" and "Faithfully Departed," and that same guy that stands in tow and sings along to the chorus to "Streams of Whiskey" in concert. Of course, I'm not suggesting you call an emergency band meeting, but... Take a chance. Life's too short. 50,000,000 Pogues fans can't be wrong. It'd be a shame if you never got the chance to hear "Crock of Gold" as brilliant, or mediocre, or trite as you may perceive it to be, or if Andrew never got to hear "Trouble Pilgrim." Which reminds me, I hope you at least listened to my lp I sent to you!!!!!!

Or is it in a pile sandwiched between "The Snake" and Bish?

Hey- last thing I'm gonna write on the topic- "lend me ten pounds and I'll buy you a beer." Think about it; think about how that magnificent line applies to this dialogue. (Humility. Commradery. Brotherhood. Summer In Siam. And we go through many changes.)
As simple as a kettle, steady as a rock.
